Why Kliptank™?
The Kliptank is a versatile above ground modular plastic and aluminium storage facility designed and manufactured in New Zealand.
Open Top Tanks
- Open top tanks can be covered at a later date for methane collection, odour control and exclusion of rainfall collection
- Quicker to install (1 – 5 days)
- Aesthetically attractive – no dangerous hole in the ground or highly reflective steel panels
- Smaller foot print (straightwalled), less rainfall catchment therefore less storage volume needed
- Can be relocated or upsized by selling and installing a bigger tank
- Safer at 2 metres high to keep out even the most determined child explorer
- Less disruption to farm. eg. Minimal earth works, no shifting underground pipes/cables.
- More versatile in respect of stirrer types that can be used
- More inlet/outlet options before and after construction
- A leakage detection system is easier and cheaper to install
- Use of an electrified outrigger means stock stay away from the tank
- No subsoil gas accumulation or water hydraulics (whaling/hippo action)
- Liner/tank supplied by same company (No liner fitting problems)

- Stock can’t get in and damage the liner
- No water catchment drain needed around the storage facility as it is above ground
- No rusting between liner tank and wall of tank or at ground level like steel tanks
Closed Top Tanks
- Quicker to install onsite (3 – 6 days)
- Aesthetically attractive - Kliptank colours blend well with natural surroundings
- Less disruption to site eg. Minimal earth works, no shifting underground pipes/cables, no concrete base.
- More inlet/outlet options before and after construction
- Vermin & insect proof roof covering for potable water
- Does not require fencing. Use electrified outrigger attached to the side of the tank
- Know your costs from the start. No extra digging or earthwork expenses
A Kliptank requires a building consent and our office will take care of this from application to Code Compliance Certificate.
The tank can be depreciated at 16% per annum. Payback is 6.25 years. An earth pond depreciation rate is 4% per annum. Payback is 25 years.

A Kliptank can be transported easily. This one arrives at its destination on a trailer, ready to be assembled.
